As the nation’s trusted source of information for Australia’s Earth sciences, Geoscience Australia is proud to champion Earth Science Week – a global movement that puts the spotlight on the vital role Earth science plays in our lives and future.
The next Earth Science Week will be held 11–17 October 2026 and we’re already gearing up to elevate awareness and celebrate the world around us. Stay tuned for our 2026 digital supporter toolkit packed with a range of downloadable resources, templates and activities designed to help you celebrate and run your own event!
If you’re like us and love Earth science so much you can’t wait for October to roll around, why not check out our 2025 'Earth Science is Everywhere!' Public Talk and have a go at the activities demonstrated by our Education and Outreach team:
- Bake your own Earth science recipes (including Rocky Road)
- Conduct an erosion experiment with sugar
- Learn how rocks store groundwater
- Build your own aquifer (on page 8 of Groundwater Mini unit)
- Model earthquake magnitude using spaghetti

Earth science is everywhere, it influences what happens when we switch on a light, turn on the tap and even order a pizza delivery. It covers all fields of STEM related to Earth and enables a deeper understanding of our Earth’s potential, unlocking a better future for all Australians!
