Projects in Australia

As of March 2026, there are 19 carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in various stages of development across Australia, including two operational commercial-scale projects, Gorgon CCS and Moomba CCS.

Offshore Greenhouse Gas Storage Acreage Release

There are currently 17 active offshore greenhouse gas storage assessment permits across Australia. Geoscience Australia supports offshore Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Storage Acreage Releases.
